You have installed Windows 10 and want to activate your Windows 10 Professional product key?
To do so, you first need to upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Professional. This process does not require a full system reinstall. We’ll show you how!
Step 1
Disconnect your computer from the internet. You must not be connected to Wi-Fi or a LAN cable during this entire process.
Click the search bar in the bottom-left corner and type Activation to open the activation settings.
Step 2
A new window will open — click “Change product key”, and enter the following generic product key:
VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T
(This is not your final product key — it is a Microsoft generic key used only to trigger the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.)
Then click “Next.”
In most cases, the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro will now begin automatically.
If you receive an error message instead, click “Cancel”. Then select “Change product key” again, enter the product key from your purchase, and click “Next.” Regardless of the message shown, restart your computer.
During the restart, Windows will apply the updates. Once your PC boots back up, Windows 10 Pro will be installed.
You can now reconnect your device to the internet.
